Community Outreach sessions

(Available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)

Superhighways is currently supporting Kingston residents, digital champions and front-line staff with community outreach sessions. Working in partnership with fantastic community organisations from Wesley’s to Refugee Action Kingston and from the Health & Wellbeing team to RBKares. We’ve also provided support to Kingston council with their events.

From getting to grips with WhatsApp to making an appointment in the NHS app, and from finding the quickest route on public transport to learning about AI apps.

James, our digital trainer, either joins an existing event/session or runs one immediately afterwards. The format is flexible and can be adjusted for the audience. Examples include:

  • Running a drop-in tech stand
  • Presenting on a tech topic, for example: Tech Myths, Tips & Tricks
  • Offering 20 minute 1:1 support sessions

He can provide bitesize lessons & help people save money on data - Social Tariffs for cheaper home broadband & access to free SIM cards for those experiencing data poverty. Plus, there are a lot of fantastic free resources to help people from free online courses on www.learnmyway.com to scam awareness at the UK Safer Internet Centre.

Notes:

  • this doesn’t include device repairs
  • usually focuses on phones, tablets & computers rather than printers, home security etc.

To find out more and arrange an outreach session for your organisation please contact James via email or leave him a message on 02083964542.

“Thank you for providing digital support to our service users this morning.

We’re delighted that so many of them benefited from your guidance and reassurance.

Your help has made a noticeable impact, and it’s clear that many still have ongoing issues they’d like to resolve. I’m hopeful we can organise more workshops in the new year to address these."
